There is a large number of historic sites in Virginia, from the home of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to importatn Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields.
The scenic, fertile Shenandoah Valley lies between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains. Its name, of Native American origin, means "daughter of the stars".
